To kingdom come at last

Oh, to see the life a man has seen
And feel the lover’s hand,
To walk the ancient roads anew
And fly like winged man,
To run with freedom, with wild speed
And halt only to drink
The sacred liquid than rains upon
From holy sky and cloud.
Oh, what I’d give to do these things
And many more and new
But I’m a man, a mortal man
And stuck to mortal earth.
Ah, sacred one, hearken and listen to my cry;
The cry of one so young and poor
In need of love and wisdom.
To you I cry, oh sacred one
To you I lift my voice.
Come, take my life and free my soul
Give me death and immortality.

For destiny, it seems, has played a naughty trick
It gave me life and love and wealth
But took my memory.
So now I turn to you, oh mighty one
In search of memory;
To know my life and the ones who came
Before life ever was.
Forgive me now, oh mighty one
My soul is in your hands
Grant me life and memory
And love for mortal man.
Grant me wisdom so I can see
The crevices and pits
That scar my path and steal my breath
And make my life a crime.
Oh mighty one, Oh sacred one, Oh holy one who lives
Who lives and dies in the same breath
With powers from above.
Guard me well and teach me right
The knowledge I can use
To make this life a better one
And free from darkness’ grip.
I look around me and I see
The madness that enshrouds
That kills bright light and haunts my step
Enslaving human child
O holy one, I merely ask
Your hand over my brow
Your words of wisdom
To light the way
And take me to the end.
For all I wish, is to become
You knight and paladin
To fight for love and make the quest
And find long lost riches.
Protect the weak and suffer all,
Defend your holy place;
Let me be a human pawn
In your immortal hand.
Oh, let me have the sacred task
Of battling with light.
Of standing up and reaching down
To protect the ones that can’t.
For all I wish is to become, another member more
Of love’s lost shrine, of sacred grove
That calles to my own heart.
I wish to see and hear and feel
The crowds that come and go
Forgiven all and taken in
To kingdom come at last.
So, take my life; for it is yours
Oh, mighty one I pray
I give you life and only ask
You do with it what’s right.
